Looking forward, next month will mark the 1-year anniversary of the launch of Wyze Cam! We sold the first Wyze Cam on October 24, 2017. To those of you who have been with us from the beginning and everyone who has joined along the way, we can't wait to celebrate with you.
Wyze Cam v2 Component Change: Transition to JX-F23 CMOS Sensor
Beginning in mid-October, there will be a change to the CMOS sensor in Wyze Cam v2. We will be transitioning from the JX-F22 CMOS sensor to the JX-F23 sensor. Overall, the JX-F23 sensor is a newer and more optimized sensor that will provide the same or better image quality as the JX-F22 sensor, particularly in low light settings. This change will have some impact on Wyze Cam v2’s performance and will have a slight cost benefit for Wyze which we will use to re-invest in the company.
We are letting you know because we believe it is important to share changes we make to Wyze products with the Wyze Community, particularly for key components like the CMOS sensor.
You can visit this forum post to read the full details of the change, discuss with other members of the Wyze Community, and provide any feedback you have.
In September we released app versions iOS v1.5.51 and Android 1.5.44. Here are the major changes:
Added automation tasks and shortcuts so you can set up scheduled tasks or quickly access manual tasks you use often. Read more about setting up and using this feature here.
Added alert notification video thumbnails for Wyze Cam v2 and Wyze Cam Pan. When you get a push notification or review your list of alert videos, you will now see a thumbnail image from the video. Note: Wyze Cam v1 does not support this feature due to hardware limitations.
Added a Wyze logo to the lower left corner of Wyze videos. You can toggle the logo on/off in the Advanced Settings for each camera. Read more about turning the logo on/off here. Note: If your video has the Wyze logo but you don't see the Settings option to toggle it on/off check to make sure the Wyze app and the camera's firmware are up to date. Once you update the Wyze app and the camera's firmware you should see the on/off toggle.
Added double-tap zoom. You can double tap to automatically zoom in or out while watching a video.
Added a 360p video setting option for slow internet connections for Wyze Cam v2 and Wyze Cam Pan. Read more about this setting here. Note: Wyze Cam v1 will not support this feature due to hardware limitations.
Added Wi-Fi signal strength information to the Device Info section of the Camera Settings.
Most features require both an app update and a firmware update to function properly. Get the full details for how to update both here.
As noted above, alert video thumbnails and the 360p video setting are not supported on Wyze Cam v1 cameras. This is due to hardware limitations.
Orders placed on the Wyze website can now ship to Alaska and Hawaii.
