Wyze Cam Pan can detect motion and sound, including the unique tonal patterns of smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, and automatically record a 12-second Event video that is saved to the AWS Cloud and is accessible for 14 days. You can set a Schedule to only record Event videos during specific times of the day and turn on Send push notification to receive a push notification when your Wyze Cam Pan detects motion or sound.
Each of the four Event detection types can be turned on or off independently for each camera set up in your Wyze account:
- Motion detection
- Sound detection
- Smoke alarm sound detection
- CO alarm sound detection
When Motion detection is turned on, you have the option to set the sensitivity level for the camera and create a motion detection zone if you are only interested in capturing an Event video for motion that occurs in a specific area (for example, a door). See the section on Detection Zones below for more information.
- Note: The camera uses a pixel comparison algorithm to detect changes in the image for motion detection, so there is no specific range or maximum distance for Motion Detection to work.
When Sound detection is turned on, you have the option to set a sensitivity level. Smoke alarm sound detection and CO alarm sound detection are simple on/off options. Click here to learn more about how smoke and CO alarm detection work.
Note that there is a 5-minute “cooldown” period between the same type of Event videos. This means that when there is continuous motion, the camera will only capture one 12-second Event video every five minutes. However, there is no “cooldown” period between different types of Events. This means that if motion occurs and then sound immediately occurs afterwards, the camera will capture both events in two consecutive 12-second Event videos. You can add a microSD card and set it to Record events only to record longer videos to your microSD card when motion is detected, without a cooldown period. See the section on microSD cards below for more information on how to do this.
- Note: Detection Settings do not impact the Record events only setting. For example, if you have motion detection turned off, you will still have clips saved to your microSD card when motion events occur.
To turn on motion and sound detection, enter the Live Stream view for your camera. Tap the Settings > Event Recording. Toggle on/off any of the motion and sound detection settings. Set a Schedule to only capture Event videos during certain times of the day.
Note: you can only change the Event Recording settings for cameras that were set up in your Wyze account. You cannot change the settings for cameras that have been shared with you, and users that you have a shared a camera with will not be able to adjust the Event Recording settings for that camera.
