The Detection Zone feature allows you to define a specific area that you want your Wyze Cam Pan to detect motion in. Everything outside of the zone is ignored and will not trigger an Event video (if Motion Detection is turned on) or Motion Tracking (if Motion Tracking is turned on). You can use Detection Zones to exclude frequently or publicly accessed areas, such as sidewalks or roads, or to only watch an area you care about like a doorway.
To set up a Detection Zone, enter the live stream view on your Wyze app, tap the Settings > Detection Settings > Detection Zone. By default, Detection Zone is toggled off so motion detection occurs in the full screen (full field of view of the camera). To set a Detection Zone, toggle Detection Zone on. You can use the directional control pad to move your camera to the view in which you would like to set a Detection Zone. Drag the corners of the box to set your motion detection target area. The Detection Zone will be saved automatically.
To turn off the Detection Zone, tap the Settings icon and select Detection Settings then Detection Zone. Toggle Detection Zone off.
Some behaviors to note:
- The Detection Zone will only be active when the camera is in the position you selected when you set the Detection Zone. If you (i) manually move the camera away from the Detection Zone OR (ii) if the camera moves away from the Detection Zone following motion when Motion Tracking is turned on, after 15 seconds of inactivity (no motion detected) the camera will automatically return to the position you selected when you set the Detection Zone, and will reinstate the Detection Zone.
- When you turn on the Pan Scan feature, your Motion Detection Zone setting will be changed to Full screen (Detection Zone will be turned off). You can turn your Motion Detection Zone back on once you have turned off the Pan Scan feature.
- If you have Motion Tagging turned on, Motion Tagging will frame motion that occurs anywhere in the full screen, not only motion in the motion detection zone. However, only motion detected in the detection zone will trigger other actions based on your settings (Event video, motion tracking, etc).
Motion Tagging frames motion detected by the camera with a green box. When there are multiple moving objects, the Motion Tagging feature frames the largest moving object in the field of view.
Motion Tagging is turned on/off in the Live Stream view and it will be visible in any recorded videos (playback, Event videos, timelapse, and manually recorded videos) captured while the Motion Tagging feature is turned on. It is not possible to add Motion Tagging to a video that doesn’t have it or to remove it from a video that has it.
To turn Motion Tagging on/off, enter the Live Stream view for your camera, tap the More icon, then tap the Motion Tagging icon to turn the feature on/off. The Motion Tagging icon will be colored when Motion Tagging is turned on, and will be gray when Motion Tagging is turned off. There is no Motion Tagging while the camera is in motion, for example while it is being manually panned or tilted.
